Demolition of Eatons Department Store, Winnipeg MB

Hazardous good removal, demolition, and removal. This massive 8 storey building occupied an entire city block. Built in the early 1900’s the brick, wood, and steel structure was a landmark and famous trading place for early settlers from Canada and the United States.

McColman & Sons Demolition demolished this structure from the top down using small excavators perched on top of the floors. These small excavators demolished the structure down to the 4th floor piece by piece sometimes enduring minus 40 degree weather. Large excavators then moved in to demolish the remaining building. At peak demolition approx 40 men were working on site. The project was completed in 8 months.
