Built in the 1930’s with additions and renovations ongoing until the late 1980’s, this brick , steel concrete and wood structure was a major challenge because of the close proximity of the Light Rail Transit system that was approximately 10’ away from the east side of the bulding and the entrance was made of glass panels. MSDL was not allowed any shut downs of the entrance so extreme care was required to dismantle and demolish this building. The Mayfair was also located on one of Edmonton’s busiest streets known as Jasper Avenue.
